The annual show and sale of cattle on Tuesday 1st October in Stornoway saw a showing of excellent quality stock followed by the sale of 108 cattle of all classes.

A strong show of cattle was judged this year by Ms Carrie Hamilton, the Crossings, Tore. This year, it was a clean sweep for DJ Macinnes!
Leading Prices Weaned Bullocks (46) averaged 273.0p (up £0.40p per kg on the year) and sold to 388.0p per kg for a 206kg Limousin cross from 12 Lionel and £1,160 gross for a 473kg Aberdeen Angus from 8 Swainbost, Ness. Weaned Heifers (42)averaged 274.5p (up £0.59p per kg on the year) and sold to 425.0p per kg and £1,300 gross for a British Blue cross from Atlantic View, Isle of Harris. Store Bullocks (10) sold to £1,400 gross for a 505kg Aberdeen Angus cross from 1 Kirkibost, Bernera. Store Heifers (9) sold to £1,500 gross for a 579kg Beef Shorthorn from 3 Shieldinish, Lochs. OTM Cattle (17)sold to £1,600 gross for a 875kg Charolais cross from 100 cross Skigersta Road.
