Lewis and Harris Auction Mart were pleased to hold its first sale of the 2026 season on Tuesday 25th August. The sale, held in conjunction with our partners at Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., saw the auction of 3912 store lambs and sheep of all categories. There was an excellent show of quality stock and prices saw significant increases on the equivalent sale last year, with some record Stornoway prices seen on the day. Local sellers were delighted with the success of the sale and the prices achieved.
Leading Prices:
Lambs (3,516 sold) averaged £85.30(+£7.70 on the 2025 average) and sold to £130 gross four times for a pen of Texel and Suffolk crosses from 25 Lower Barvas, a Suffolk cross from 28 Lower Barvas and for a Texel cross from 32 Garrabost.
Feeding Sheep (294 sold) reached £210 gross for a Texel ram from 19 Brue. Gimmers (102 sold) peaked at £184 gross for a cross from Melbost Farm.
