The 2024 show and sale of breeding rams took place on Monday 30th September. An excellent show of rams were met with very strong prices and a record high price for the Stornoway mart with a two-shear cheviot achieving £1200. A total of 116 rams were sold.
Ram Show Prizewinners: There was an excellent display of rams for this year's show. The mart committee were delighted to welcome Fiona Maciver as judge and she had an unenviable task of breed judging and then selecting a champion, a reserve and a third placed tup. The eventual prizewinners were as follows.

The top price on the day was £1200 for a two-shear cheviot from Inverbroom Farm, Ullapool. As well as seeing record top prices, the averages achieved at the sale were also very strong. For breeding rams, Blackfaces averaged £370; Cheviots averaged £447 and other breeds averaged £222. Overall, rams sold for breeding locally in Lewis and Harris averaged £352.

Aged (10) sold to £350 gross for a Blackface from 26A Back.
